The Baltimore Music Awards (BMA) is an annual awards show created by Diamond K (Dwayne Williams) to honor the achievements of Baltimore's entertainment community. This years ceremony marks the 6th year of this red carpet event. Unlike the Grammys, which are awarded on the basis of votes by members of the Recording Academy, the BMAs are determined by a poll of the public and fans, who can vote at BaltimoreMusicAwards.com

The winners are determined by a 2 level voting process which consist of a nomination period (April-Aug) from which 3 finalist are determined and the actual voting on the finalist. Polls are open from September - December of every year.

For the 2016 BMAs - Baltimore sent in 16,728 nominations. They have were counted and the finalist in all categories have been determined.
